These collars solved two problems. They prevent flea infestations and repel ticks. They also stay on my active, crafty cats. I have tried many flea treatments and many collars (both flea and non-flea). These are tops. My cats have now been wearing them for five months. In that time we’ve had zero ticks and no flea problem. We used to struggle with a flea problem of medium intensity every spring/summer. For our family these collars are the most effective flea treatment I’ve tried. And they last. After five months they are still going strong. Package says they work up to eight months, so I set up auto-ship for every seven months, to ensure we remain comfortably flea-free. Of course, it doesn’t matter how long a flea-treatment lasts if the cats ditch their collars within weeks or days. Neither of my escape artists has managed to lose this collar.

Ingredients

Active Ingredients: Flumethrin 4.5%, Imidacloprid 10.0%.

Instructions

Use only one collar per animal. Fit collar around your pet's neck, allowing for 2 fingers to fit between the collar and your pet's neck to ensure a comfortable, yet snug, fit. Once collar is properly fitted, cut off any excess collar measuring 1" or longer. The collar should be worn continuously for the 8 month protection period. Check periodically and adjust fit if necessary, especially when puppies are rapidly growing. Keep the collar in the bag and in the outer packaging until use. Replace the collar after 8 months for optimal tick and flea protection.

Water Resistance

It is unnecessary to remove the collar before immersing your pet in water. Seresto remains effective following a shampoo treatment, swimming or exposure to rain or sunlight. In order to maintain an 8 month duration, pets must not be bathed more than once a month. For pets that swim once a month or more, the control duration is reduced to five months for fleas and seven months for ticks.

      • How long does it take to work on fleas?

Seresto kills existing fleas on cats within 24 hours after application. After those 24 hours, new fleas are killed within 2 hours.

      • How do I know if the Seresto collar I purchased is authentic?

It is crucial that pet owners purchase real and genuine Seresto products from authorized and trusted retailers. Counterfeit collars and their packaging look very similar to the actual product. Be sure the collar does not have a greasy feel or an odor.

      • Does it expire?

There is no expiration date required on the packaging.
The product should be kept in its original packaging and stored as directed on the label.

      • What are the key ingredients?

The active ingredients in Seresto collars are Imidacloprid and Flumethrin: Imidacloprid to help protect against fleas and Flumethrin to help protect against ticks. No other product has this combination of ingredients.

        Seresto® for Cats and Dogs

How do Seresto ® collars for dogs work?

The Seresto® collar works with a patented polymer matrix of two active ingredients, which spread from the site of direct contact over the skin surface of your dog:

        • Imidacloprid has been used in products for years to control flea infestations.
        • Flumethrin effectively kills and repels ticks.
        • Flumethrin works together with imidacloprid to provide dual action against fleas and ticks. No other product has this combination of ingredients.

        Sustained release technology

Seresto® works similarly to a monthly topical in the fact that the active ingredients spread from the site of direct contact over the skin surface. The active ingredients in Seresto® are released in low concentrations from within the collar and, thanks to your pet's skin and coat, spread from head to toes, even the tail. As the active ingredients wear off over time, a new supply is continuously replenished in low concentrations for 8 months. The long-lasting, 8-month duration of Seresto® differentiates it from other flea and tick collars.

Do Seresto® collars for dogs expire?

There is no expiration date required on the packaging by the EPA for Seresto® for dogs. The product should be kept in its original packaging and stored as directed on the label

Can l bathe my dog with the Seresto@ collars on?

Seresto® is water-resistant and remains effective following a shampoo treatment, swimming or after exposure to rain or sunlight. Under normal conditions, effectiveness lasts for 8 months. To maintain an 8-month duration, dogs must not be bathed more than once per month. There is no need to remove the collar for bathing. Please use a gentle, soap-free pet shampoo.

How do l apply the Seresto@ collar and take it off my dog?

How to apply the Seresto® collar on your dog:

        1. Remove the collar from its packaging.
        2. Unroll the collar and remove the small plastic connectors from inside the collar, ensuring that no remnants remain.
        3. Insert the end of the collar through the buckle and loops.
        4. Adjust the collar around your dog's neck until it fits comfortably on them.
        5. Two fingers should fit beneath the collar and neck to ensure it's not too tight. Any excess length of the collar beyond an inch past the loops should be cut off, unless it is on a growing puppy, where some additional length may be needed for adjustment as the puppy grows.
        6. Check periodically and adjust fit if necessary, especially on growing puppies.
        7. Seresto® comes with three optional reflector clips that can be attached to the collar to help keep your dog visible at night. The reflector clips should be evenly distributed on the non-overlapping part of the collar.

Why can Seresto @ be used on pets?

        Seresto® kills fleas and ticks.

Seresto® was designed with specific ingredients at doses that are active against fleas and ticks. Studies show that fleas and ticks are highly susceptible to the combination of imidacloprid and flumethrin found in Seresto®.

The continuous distribution technology ensures that both active ingredients are slowly and continuously released from the collar toward the animal. This ensures that concentrations of both active ingredients are present on the dog during the entire protection period. The active ingredients spread from the site of direct contact over the skin surface.

Is there a Seresto @ recall?

There is no evidence in the scientific evaluation conducted for registration or the regularly reviewed pharmacovigilance data to suggest a recall of Seresto® is warranted, nor has one been requested, or even suggested by any regulatory agency. As a result, Elanco continues to stand behind the safety profile of Seresto®. It remains available to consumers as an effective way to protect pets against fleas and ticks that can transmit disease and can impact their quality of life.
